J.R. Jaffe (they/them)
Associate Marriage & Family Therapist
Supervised by Roshni Chabra, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Hi all! Iām JR, a Trans/nonbinary Associate Marriage and Family Therapist providing trauma-focused care primarily for BIPOC LGBTQIA+ clients of all ages in California. My approach is grounded in anti-oppression and social justice work that centers your lived experience. I meet with many clients who are neurodivergent and experience chronic pain and illness, and are looking for ways to navigate depression, anxiety, and panic when confronted with systems not built for our needs. Healing happens in places that are supportive and collaborative, and where people feel free and safe enough to be themselves. We will take things one step at a time, building a working relationship together as we begin to process your experiences and identify strength-based goals. I will help you to deepen your relationship to yourself and build connection and interdependence with friends, chosen family, and trusted community.
I use a feminist therapy lens that combines aspects of narrative, parts work, expressive arts and EMDR in a way that listens to, centers, and adapts to your needs to help empower you. Together, we can identify creative ways for you to emotionally resource, think through experiences, and connect more deeply with your agency, strength, and resilience.
In addition to therapeutic work, I also provide training and consultation to therapists who are providing care to people in Queer and Trans communities.
If you are interested in working together, please reach out for a free consultation. I look forward to meeting you!
